  1. "Measure Using Common Tools and Appropriate Units"
    1. Animal Weigh In
      This site is recommended for 4th grade and up, may even be used with middle school. The site allows students to compare and estimate the weight of animals and gives them several chances before it helps them out. A balance scale activity which has the student drag weights to match the unit given.

    4. Funbrain Change Maker Game
      Outstanding - Interactive game which asks to give the amount of coins that represent change for $1.00 or $100.00. Graphics are lifelike. (Grades 2-4)
    5. Funbrain Shape Surveyor Geometry Game
      Outstanding - This is an interactive game. You are on an archeological dig and have to solve problems as you dig. The student calculates the perimeter or area of a given figure. They are able to select from a variety of difficulty levels. This is a student activity.

    7. This is an interactive site that has activities for K-5 that include measuring angles, working with symmetry, teaching measures, and how much is it?
    8. Interactivate New
    9. Interactive learning and practice of surface area and volume. It gives a shape that can be manipulated by the mouse to see all the faces, can choose the width, depth, and height of either rectangular or triangular prism. It has a compute or explore mode for students to practice before answering. It also has a check answer and show answer option.
    10. Judge and Jury
      Students explore non-standard units and compare relative sizes of "steps" in this activity.  They determine how the size of each type of step is important to how many steps it takes to measure an object.
    11. Math Playground Measuring Angles with a Protractor New
    12. Interactive practice using a protractor to measure angles. The site gives 10 angles for students to measure, fill in the measurement and check the answer. The protractor is already lined up with the vertex of each angle, students are to rotate the protractor into the proper position before measuring. There is a one degree of error so students need to measure and remeasure to ensure a correct answer. Good for 4th grade practice, is a 5th grade GLCE.
    13. Measure It!
      This site is student activity based. Students must look at the ruler and decide how long the bar above it is. It also keeps track of correct/incorrect responses. Students can also choose what level of difficulty they would like to be on. Children must be able to read in order to respond. This site would be appropriate for grades 2-5.
    14. Money Experience For Kids!
      Outstanding - This site allows three types of games: (It ranges form grade 2 to higher elementary) Making Change - It tells how many of what denomination are required to make a given amount. Spending Money - The student is given a specific amount of cash and presented with a list of items. Their job is to buy things until they have less than $1.00 left. They must not overspend. Piggy Bank Break-in - Add up the money by denomination and determine the total. This is a student activity.
    15. Mrs. Glosser's Math Goodies
      This is an interactive site that provides students with the opportunity to practice finding the area of polygons. The site first reviews what polygons (squares, rectangles) are and shows students the formula for finding area (LxW). The site then gives students problems to solve on their own. This is a student activity.
    16. PBS Kids: Cyberchase
      Students choose from 3 different pots to fill a given container in the game "Can You Fill It?".  Using estimation, students try to fill the container in the least amount of tries without spilling over.  This activity would help students to recognize changes in volume.
    17. Shape Surveyor
      This is a very fun and exciting interactive site. It allows the children to choose their level of difficulty from easy, medium, to hard. There is a choice to compute perimeter, area, or both. It is immediate self-checking and supplies the correct answer. This site is a student activity.

      This site provides students with the opportunity to investigate the relationship between the length of a diagonal of a square and one of its sides.
    19. Snapdragon Tell the Time
      Children manipulate the hands on a clock to tell time. Dragon pops up to indicate correct answers.

      Outstanding  Excellent geometry site for ages 4 to 11.  Follow the Investigate link for student activities that involve multiple choice questions about familiar regular shapes and irregular shapes.  While students complete these activites, they have access to a shape book that provides drawings and information about each shape.  Click on the bouncing triangle for interactive java activities that allow students to use their knowledge about shapes, symmetry, and transformations.  Follow the teacher link for information about the skills that are covered at this website, along with printable activities and resources.

    14. Interactive learning and practice of perimeter and area. It gives a shape on a grid and you find the perimeter and area of the shape and has the option to choose rectangular shape or irregular shapes.

    16. Interactive learning and practice of perimeter. Allows exploration for students to use before answering in the game.
    17. Math Olympics New
    18. Students match the formulas of basic polygons and circle with the name or picture of the geometric shape.
    19. Math Playground Measure the Area and Perimeter of Rectangles New
    20. Students are given a word problem that the cartoon characters are trying to solve, a picture of the shape and its dimensions are given and ask you to help them solve their problem. When you are checking the answer it provides a tutorial explanation for the students using formulas and work the characters used to solve the problem. Next, students are to try their own using an interactive ruler to measure the length and width in order to solve the perimeter and area. Great for review and practice. 4th gr. GLCE.

    22. Outstanding! This site includes interactive activities for students that cover ALL of the Shape and Shape Relationship Benchmarks.
       
    23. PBS Kids: Cyberchase
      Students print a "wacky ruler" and a page of worms.  Using the wacky ruler, (which is missing some numbers,) students measure each of the  worms.  Students can check their answers on the site.  To conclude the activity, students could explain their strategy.
    24. The Mysterious Tangram
      This is a very student friendly and fun site. Students build shapes by turning, flipping, and combining others to fill patterns. The site gives clues and encourages children by using positive sayings. Good for children 1st grade through 6th.

      Outstanding - Grades 3 and up. This interactive site allows students to explore and manipulate geometric shapes. Students are encouraged to compare and describe shapes according to their attributes.

      In this site, students can use their knowledge of geometric shapes to play the game called Matho. Appropriate for students in grades 3-5. If the answer is correct the space is filled with an "X", if the answer is incorrect the student is given another shape to find. Immediate feedback is given the student.
    2. A+ Math -- Flashcards -- Geometric Shapes
      Students are shown a specific geometric shape and asked to recognize it from a large list of choices. Immediate feedback is given to the student. Appropriate for grades 3 -5.
